Some useful definitions
Orthosis: Orthopedic appliance; any device or appliance (includes braces or splints) used to support, align, prevent, or correct orthopedic deformities or otherwise improve motor functioning.
Orthoses: plural of orthosis.
Orthotics: the science and practice of designing, measuring, fitting, evaluating and teaching the use of orthoses.
Gait: a particular pattern or style in which a person walks.
