MK11 Hart Walker

The MK11 Hart Walker aims to make progress towards independent mobility, allowing a child to stand with a good posture and learn to walk with an efficient walking pattern, without the need to use their hands.

A child is fitted with bracing around the pelvis and to the lower limbs which, being hinged at the hips, knees and ankles, helps guide each step while preventing any unnatural movement of the lower limbs, such as "scissoring" or excessive "toe down". The extent of the upper body bracing provided is dependent upon the child's needs. Some children may require only a simple waist strap, while others, for example may require initial support to their chest and shoulders to help them master head control. The bracing is designed so that it can easily be adjusted to accommodate a child's growth and progress.

The four wheeled frame offers a stable brace upon which a child can be helped and encouraged to achieve a good standing posture and efficent walking pattern. This makes it good for most children who can usually take advantage of the mobility it offers with minimum supervision.

The four wheeled frame is fitted with adjustable front swivel wheels which respond immediately to the child's direction of walking and can be made to turn on the spot by a child's ability to side step. Although some children may take a little while to learn how to make their new steps take them in a desired direction, once mastered, the frame provides good responsive maneuverability, allowing it to be used within a confined environment.

Being telescopically adjustable, the one frame grows with the child. This feature also allows it to be reduced in size for easier transportation and storage when space is limited.
