About Us
David Hart established the research and development clinic based in Keighley, West Yorkshire, in 1989.
Our ongoing research programme involves the careful study of children making use of our current equipment. Children attending our clinic can, therefore, take pride, not only in their own progress but in the fact that they are contributing to a better quality of life for a great many more children around the world.
To this end, we dedicate part of our time to helping other capable organisations around the world to help children within their own countries and, providing such organisations are willing to maintain our standards, we willingly provide training for their medical staff in the use of our equipment.
Many teams of dedicated professionals have already attended our clinic for training from as far-a-field as North America, Japan, Israel and Australia and are now making use of our latest equipment to help their own children. Others are scheduled to do the same in 2006.
UK professionals wanting to learn more about our equipment in order to help children within their own area are most welcome to attend our clinic for training.
The David Hart Clinic is also looking to licence the latest equipment to a suitable UK orthotics/medical company which would allow the clinic to concentrate on R & D. Enquiries from interested parties are welcome.
Most of the equipment for use outside the UK is now produced to David Hart's specifications by a highly respected manufacturer within Canada and shipped directly to the many teams around the world. We are delighted that the Lions Clubs of Australia and New Zealand have made helping children with the Hart Walker their National Projects.
Although relatively small, our own clinical workshop is very well equipped with both traditional and 'high tech' facilities, allowing our full-time engineers to manufacture the established equipment on-site and efficiently convert new ideas into hardware for proving by way of patient trials within the clinic.
This structure ensures that children attending our clinic are the first to receive our latest, proven equipment or, as part of our ongoing research, are given the opportunity to take part in the trials of equipment under development.
Our field of work demands that we monitor each child's progress carefully and critically. Although we have used computers to assist with analysis since 1989, their ever increasing speed and capacity, together with the introduction of digital video has made this a much easier task as well as allowing us to study a great deal more information.
Although we never promise any child independent mobility, we do promise that we will do all that we can to provide them with the best opportunity of reaching their true potential.
